A Distribution Network Operator, or DNO, is the company responsible for maintaining and operating the local electricity network in your area. They assess connection requests, network capacity and approvals for new equipment or electricity supplies.

This depends on the size and type of system being installed. Smaller systems may only need a G98 notification after installation, while larger or more complex systems may need DNO approval through a G99 application before work begins.

G98 generally applies to smaller generation systems, such as certain domestic solar or battery installations. G99 applies to larger systems, higher-capacity installations or projects that require approval before connection.
